Funeral services for Julie P. Powell, 34, of Yukon, former Mangum resident, were held Saturday, March 17 at the First Baptist Church in Mangum. Burial, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home of Minco, followed at the Blair Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Shaun Johnson of the Mangum First Baptist Church.

Julie was born September 3, 1977 in Weatherford, and died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at her home in Yukon after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was raised in the Mangum area, graduated from Mangum High School and from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She worked as an auditor for the State of Oklahoma Audit and Inspection Office.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mangum. She had lived in the Yukon community for approximately 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, A.O. Howard Jr. and Faye Howard, Verda and Elward Powell, and Darrell Powell.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Susan and Rocky Hamilton of Mangum; grandmother Louise Howard of Mangum; step grandmother Fay Powell of Bartlesville; two stepsisters, Stacey and Phil Warner and children Tyler and Joshua Warner of St. Genevieve, Mo., and Nicole and Steven Taylor and children Logan and Madison of Stillwater; two aunts, Cheryl and Glenn Reeves of Mangum and children Grant Reeves of Mangum, Renee and Corry Kendall and son Colton of Weatherford, Linda Van Noy of Grand Junction, Colo. and children Jason and Laura Van Noy of Japan, Mark and Amy Van Noy and family of Grand Junction, April and Sean Secrest and family, also of Grand Junction.
