Paul Wesley McEndree, 67, of Altus, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, at the Plantation Village Nursing Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday at the Tamarack Road Church of Christ with Clint Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Paul was born on April 10, 1944, in Hollis to Louis Hansford and Lucy Margaret (Gilliam) McEndree. He attended grade school in Eldorado, Central Junior High in Altus and graduated from Altus High School in 1962. He married Deanna Lee Collier on Aug. 15, 1963 in Mangum. He worked with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for 28 years as a surveyor / construction inspector and later with the City of Altus as an electronic technician for 13 years. He also served in the Army National Guard of Oklahoma. He was member of the Tamarack Road Church of Christ, where he helped with the audio and visual equipment and volunteered in the church’s community food room. He enjoyed wildlife photography, saying he liked to “hunt with his camera.” He was a motorcycle enthusiast and a Ham radio operator with the handle of WD5BBO. He employed his Ham radio skills as a volunteer storm spotter for several years. He was the sole caregiver for his mother and his wife and was always helping people in need. Before his illness, Paul could be seen walking all over Altus, getting in his “four mile a day.” His family characterized him as “the kindest, gentlest, most loving man who was a great listener.”

He was preceded in death by his wife; his father; and his sister, Melba Ruth McEndree.

He is survived by his mother, Lucy Margaret McEndree of Altus; sister-in-law, Tammy Davis and husband Gene of Altus; brother, Jerry McEndree and wife Jane of Hurst, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Frankie Collier and wife Brenda of Altus, and Johnnie Collier of Frederick; nine nephews, Scott and Stephen McEndree, Ryan and Brady Davis, Lonnie and David Jones, and Robbie, Jeff and Tim Collier; a niece, Lori McEndree; and many friends.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Kincannon Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tamarack Road Church of Christ Food Room, 1000 E. Tamarack Road, Altus, OK 73521.
