Kittie Huey’s “All That Jazz” will present the great sounds of the big-band era at the Altus Shortgrass Arts and Humanities Council’s upcoming Valentine’s Eve Dance.
The gala event is slated for 8 to 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at the Best Western Ballroom in Altus and will feature a gourmet dessert buffet and cash bar.
Limited tickets at $25 for couples and $15 for singles are available at the door or in advance by calling the Shortgrass office at 580-477-1616. Suggested attire is dressy casual.
According to Gloria Rustmann, Shortgrass’ Valentine’s Eve Dance chairman, “We have so many fabulous cooks in the Shortgrass Arts Council, and they will bring their specialties, such as Italian crème cake and chocolate fondue. We will also have sugar-free desserts.
“We hope dancers and dance groups in Frederick, Hobart, Cooperton, Mangum and other Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas communities will plan to come and support this event.
Best Western’s round tables for 10 will be decorated with linen tablecloths and festive red and silver Valentine’s Day centerpieces.
Charlotte Moberly, Shortgrass board member, encourages all music lovers to attend. “Come and enjoy the band, even if you don’t dance,” Moberly said.
