The first annual “Swim-A-Cross” to benefit the American Red Cross and the Altus Western Waterdawgs swim team, will be held Saturday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The event will take place at the Altus City Pool.

To join, form a team of up to five swimmers, plus an alternate, for a maximum of six team members. Then, pay or collect a minimum of $100 of donations/pledges from your family, friends, neighbors, boss, co-workers, business partners, patrons, etc.

Solo entries fees are $50.

Each team will have a donation jar at the pool to encourage spectators to donate to their organization. Teams will have the option of keeping 40% of the total raised for their organization or sponsor, or they can donate it back to the Waterdawgs.

On the day of the Swim-A-Cross, teams will compete against each other from Altus Air Force Base and surrounding communities. Teams will have a maximum of two hours, or a maximum of 200 lengths, to swim this event.

Times are split between 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

This is a fund raising event, and you do not have to be a competitive swimmer to participate.

Prizes will be awarded to the first place team, top male solo, top female solo, oldest swimmer and youngest swimmer. The top fundraiser will also win a prize.
