Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Blair Cemetery with the Rev. Madison Clinton officiating under the direction of People’s Cooperative Funeral Home of Lone Wolf.

William C. “Hick” Gardner was born to Charley C. and Aurora Belle (Winters) Gardner near Lone Wolf on Nov. 11, 1925.
He grew up in the Soldiers Springs and Mt. Teepee area near Lone Wolf, and graduated from Warren High School. He moved to California to be a factory worker during WWII and later moved to Hutch, N.M., to work for the Highway Department. He married Jerry Reynolds in Hutch, N.M. After retiring he moved to Medicine Park to care for his father. He later moved to Altus to be close to his sister. He was an avid gardener and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a step daughter, Iris Jean Oliver; three brothers, Clarence Lester Gardner, Thomas Rex Gardner and Raymond C. Gardner; and three sisters, Pearl Anderson, Clara Roach and Jewel Hendricks.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Deda and husband Billy Romero of Hutch, N.M.; two sisters, Helen Davis of Horizen, Texas, and Berniece Carroll of Altus; five stepgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
