Altus woman falls asleep at the wheel, wrecks

An early morning accident east of Hollis resulted in an Altus woman being air-evaced to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Audrey Drury, 25, of Altus, was driving a 2009 Pontiac Vie 2.7 miles east of Hollis on US Hwy. 62 in Harmon County when she apparently fell asleep at the wheel. Drury departed the roadway to the left, impacting a culvert. The vehicle overturned 1/4 times, coming to rest on the driver’s side.

Drury was taken by Harmon County EMS to Harmon County Memorial Hospital in Hollis, and then air-evaced to OU Medical Center where she was listed in stable condition with back injuries.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle. Seatbelts were equipped and in use. Airbags were also equipped, and deployed.
