AAFB Open House set for Saturday

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Altus Air Force Base will celebrate 70 years of air power with an Open House May 12, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

The highlight of the event will be Air Force military aircraft and Army Fort Sill artillery displays available for viewing. In addition, there will be fire prevention demonstrations, military working dog demonstrations, and a car show. On May 11, 2012 Altus AFB will also be hosting a base-community golf tournament. Individuals or teams interested in playing in the golf tournament must contact Windy Trails Golf Course at (580) 481-7207 to reserve a spot.

The Air Force Band of Mid America’s Hot Brass Ensemble will be performing during the golf tournament and during the Open House.

Vendors will have food and refreshments available for purchase. There will be several free activities to include bouncy castles, face painting, and a paper airplane contest open to all ages. For individuals interested in learning more about the Air Force, recruiters will be available to answer questions.

Non-DoD cardholders will be permitted to enter the base through the South gate on Highway 62 no earlier than 11 a.m. DOD cardholders and their family members should enter through the main gate on Falcon Street.
