Mangum Mountie Rodeo to be held this weekend

The Mangum Mountie Rodeo banners are flying in support of the 80th Mangum Mountie Rodeo to be held this weekend, June 15 and 16. Nightly performances begin at 7 p.m. at the Mangum Mountie arena. Then on Saturday morning the 80th Mangum Mountie Rodeo parade will happen at 11 a.m., followed by a barbecue on the courthouse square.

This year the Mangum Mounties celebrate their 80th year, they promise the two day Rodeo will be an event the whole family can enjoy, not only will there be the regular rodeo events, Saddle Bronc, Breakaway, Barrel Racing, Steer Wrestling, Calf Roping and of course Bull Riding, there will be entertainment between the events.

This year they will be bringing back the One Arm Bandit along with Dusta Kimzey, a trick horse rider, The Oklahoma Kid, a trick roper and Dusty Jenkins known as ” The Jester” as the clown along with Scott Fry as announcer. And of course the Hext Rodeo Company will supply the rough and tough stock for the events.

The cowboys and cowgirls will compete for $10.800 added money to the events as they compete for the top time in each event.

Also on the Rodeo grounds there will be different vendors who will be selling items and a Jumpy Castle for the kids. The concession stand will be ran by the Church of New Beginnings offering hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, snacks, homemade ice cream and cold sodas, water and tea that can be purchased while enjoying the rodeo.

Advance tickets can be purchased at The Loop until Saturday after the barbecue.
