Funeral service for Charles Floyd Waugh, 78, of Tipton, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at the Tipton Church of Christ with James Waugh officiating. Burial will be in the Tipton Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Waugh passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 in a Lawton hospital.

Charles Floyd Waugh was born on March 22, 1934 in Roosevelt to Ernest Kenneth and Corine Floyd Waugh. He attended and graduated from Sentinel High School in 1952. After service in the United States Army, Mr. Waugh received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Cameron College in Lawton and later his Master’s Degree in Education from Southwestern State University in Weatherford. On May 15, 1958, he married Sharon Jane Trent in Hale Center, Texas. During his life, he had served as a minister with the Church of Christ in Chattanooga and then in Warren for over 29 years. For many years, he and Sharon had served as house parents for the Tipton Children’s Home before retiring in December 1978. He had also taught Jr. High and Senior High School math as well as coached in the Tipton Public Schools until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Tipton Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; four sons, Dan Waugh and his wife Robin of Edmond, James Waugh and his wife Deborah of Frisco, Texas, Joe Waugh and his wife Lori, and Ken Waugh and his wife Michelle, all of Tipton; two daughters, Delia White and her husband Teddy, and Andrea McCarley and her husband Bruce, all of Tipton; one foster child, James Atteberry and his wife Laura and their children, Tara, Jeremy and Kaci; special family, Justin and Mary Kliewer and their children, Bailey, Darcey, Kalli and Chisholm; one sister, Ruby McGowan and her husband Donald; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dee Waugh, Connie Trent and James and Jane Trent; grandchildren, DeeAnn Waugh, Weston Waugh, Dawson Waugh, Derek Waugh and his wife Courtney, Hailey Weaver and her husband Jacob, Logan Waugh, Justin White, Shanelle Ingram and her husband Daniel, Travis White and his wife Marisa, Lauren Waugh, Zachary Waugh, Jacob Waugh, Tyler Waugh, Tara Howard, Tyler Howard, Bryce Waugh and MaKenna Waugh; great-grandchildren, Levi Ingram, Tynlee White and Sailor Howard; and many people that called him Dad from the Tipton Children’s Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bob Waugh; one sister, Emma Lou Waugh; and one grandson,Caleb Waugh.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tipton Children’s Home in memory of Charles Waugh.
