On Thursday, June 14, at approximately 9:52 p.m., officers of the Altus Police Department responded to an injury accident on the Veterans Bypass. According to Asst. Police Chief Mike Turner, the driver was driving a 2004 Nissan. Turner said, the driver “has been identified as Jeffrey Hoffmaster, 32, of Aliquippa, Pa. While the investigation is still ongoing, initial reports indicate that the driver was north bound when he left the roadway for an unknown reason and rolled the vehicle multiple times.” The driver’s condition is not known at this time, but Turner added that Hoffmaster was transported to the Jackson County Memorial Hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for treatment.

Turner also reported that early this morning, Friday, June 15, at approximately 1:27 a.m., “A marked APD police unit was involved in an injury accident at the intersection of Broadway and Park Lane. The patrol unit, was traveling north bound on Park Lane and was driven by Officer Joe Barrett of the APD.” Turner said, “He (Barrett) was responding to a business alarm on Falcon Road. A 1996 Cadillac was traveling west bound and was driven by Walter Glazzard of Altus. The collision occurred as the two vehicles met in the intersection.” Both men are recovering today. Turner said, “Glazzard was transported to the Jackson County Memorial Hospital by EMS where he was treated and released. Barrett, who was taken to the Jackson County Memorial Hospital by coworkers, was also treated and released. The investigation into this accident is still ongoing.”
