A two-vehicle accident on S. Spurgeon and Nona resulted in one vehicle rolling and the other hitting a telephone pole. According to reports, Robert Smith of Frederick was south bound on Spurgeon in a Toyota SUV and said he didn’t see the stop sign at the intersection and hit Fernanda Thompson of Altus, the driver of the Dodge Durango, inset. Thompson was east bound on Nona street when the accident occurred. The Smith vehicle flipped on its top, skidding, before rolling over onto its side. The Thompson vehicle went off the roadway and hit a telephone pole. Seatbelts were in use in both vehicles, and no injuries were reported. Smith, who was said to be traveling at a high rate of speed, was cited for failure to yield.
