The Jackson County Commissioners met for the regular Monday meeting on June 18 at 10 a.m. in the Courthouse.

They approved the minutes of the Monday, June 11 meeting with a minor correction.

The commissioners approved a report from the County Election Board.

In Officers reports, County Treasurer Renee Howard gave the Sales Tax and Use Tax reports. Sales Tax was up from last year, but down from last month. Use Tax was up both from last year and last month.

There were no blanket purchase orders to approve.

The commissioners accepted the results of the Jackson County Commissioners of County Treasurer’s Resale Deeds for property acquired at June 11. Howard reported that before the sale date there were 102 properties on the resale list. At the sale, there were 33 offered. Twenty-one sold and 12 came back to the County. There may need to be a bit of fine tuning on policies next year, according to Howard’s remarks about the sale. Some people were prevented from bidding on property because it went too high too fast. Howard did say interested buyers on the 12 available pieces can still come make bids at the Treasurer’s office.

The commissioners approved the re-appointment of Jerry Marquart and Renee Collingwood both to serve on the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Authority Board of Trustees.

They approved Resolution 2012-23 for the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners to direct the County Treasurer to reimburse the County Election Board’s Personal Services General Fund Account pursuant to Title 62, Section 335 of the Oklahoma Statutes. This is done each year to provide pay for the Election Board to be able to work on special elections. During the year, the Election Board will receive funds as reimbursements and will give those to the commissioners to deposit back into the General Fund.

The commissioners approved re-appointment of Lynn Rudd and Grover Knight to serve on the Jackson County Emergency Medical Service Board of Trustees

Last meeting the rental contracts involving George Bros. Termite & Pest Control, and Lee Office Equipment were disapproved. These two companies had yet to pay their County taxes. This time, both had caught up on the tax bills and the commissioners approved contracts for both of the companies with the Jackson County Health Department. George Bros. was for Pest Control Services for FY ending June 2013, and Lee Office was for Office Equipment for FY ending June 2013.

The commissioners approved the bidder to receive the contract for the Jackson County Health Department for removal and replacement of all floor surfaces. This was based on the recommendation of Karen Weaver, JCHD Director. S&S Quality Carpet bid $63,000 for the whole job, while Walker Carpet bid $77,000. S&S was chosen as best bid.

One bid was opened for the Heavy Brush Fire Truck for Elmer Fire Department. Kyrish Government Group bid $100,000 on a specialized vehicle for their needs. This was approved by the commissioners. The funding for the purchase is from a grant.

The commissioners opened bids for their Road and Bridge Materials, Tires and Herbicides and took these under advisement. No action was taken.

In new business, Marty Clinton, commissioner chair, said he’d received a letter from Jimmie Ewing resigning from the EMS Board of Trustees. Ewing saluted EMS and their standard of care. Gerald Sherrill received information on bundling services through CableOne, and forwarded the information to Clinton. The matter will be a new agenda item in the future. Also in new business, Clinton said that the last day on the job in District 2 for Juan Martinez was June 15.

The claims were approved and the meeting was adjourned at 10:40 a.m.
