JCMH physician recruitment results in new surgeon in June, pediatrican joining in July

Jackson County Memorial Hospital, Board of Trustees met for their regular monthly meeting Monday, where Jim King reviewed the highlights from the Performance Improvement Council meeting that was held on June 4. Due to the Sentinel Event Alert issued by Joint Commission, the Fatigue Management Plan and Fit for Duty policy were developed and put into place.

Fixed Assets from Funded Depreciation and Designated Funds to Funded Depreciation were approved in the amount of $159,021.36.

The board approved to raise the irrevocable letter of credit to the Worker’s Compensation Court to $275,000 as presented by Nancy Davidson.

Michelle Ford reported from the JCMH outreach clinics. There were a total of 214 admissions and 129 outpatient surgeries and observations contributed to JCMH for the month of May.

The board approved the written capital expenditure plan for Home Care stating Home Care does not anticipate any capital expenditures in excess of $600,000 annually for the next three years.

Bill Wilson reported on physician recruitment activity. Recruitment efforts are focused in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine and Psychiatry. Dr. Jeff Duncan, Orthopedic Surgeon, joined Southwest Orthopedics June 4 and Dr. Lindsey King, Pediatrician, will join the JCMH Pediatric Clinic July 9.

The board approved the annual review of the JCMH Mission and Vision Statements with no changes.

The board reviewed and approved the annual budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year to include anticipated net revenues of $73,322,855 and expenses of $71,184,727 which would produce a net operating revenue of $2,138,128. The anticipated full-time employee equivalency would be 665 FTEs. This is made up of full-time and part-time employees. The hospital employs approximately 800 employees.

The board also reviewed and approved the capital budget in the amount of $3,786,717.

Dr. Melinda Powers, Chief of Staff, reported from the JCMH Medical Staff Executive Committee meeting that was held on June 11. The Board approved the following recommendations:

1. Initial Appointment:

i. Suhas D. Agte, MD – Nephrology, Consulting Staff

ii. Robert C. Spain, MD – Medical Oncology, Courtesy Staff

2. Reappointment:

i. Melinda S. Powers, DO – Family Medicine, Active Staff

ii. Kristen M. Savath, MD – Pediatrics, Active Staff

iii. Randall E. Sheets, MD – Family Medicine, Active Staff

iv. Phillip N. Kingery, MD – Family Medicine, Consulting Staff

Nancy Davidson reported on the Financials for the month of May resulting in a net loss of $100,062 and a year to date net income was $3,747,245.
