Because education is important to the Jackson County Home and Community Education, the organizational representatives (l to r) Dorothy Davis, Idell Culberson, and Margarette Sampler along with Sue Overstreet (second from right) presented a $100 check and a $250 check to the Great Plains Literacy Council. The GPLC Vice President Rick Cheaney accepted the donations that were applied to Spelling Bee fundraiser and The Priddy Foundation Matching Grant for the advancement of a citizenship and literacy program. With donations like this, resources have been made available through the literacy program so that there have been 12 adult learners who reached their goal of U.S. citizenship status this fiscal year. OSU Cooperative Extension Educator Lynn Null (right) also attended the presentation.
