The Great Western Cattle Trail, Oklahoma Chapter, is seeking nominations for the Young Trail Blazer Award.
Qualifications: Age 18 or under at the time the project is completed, Must be a resident of Oklahoma, Minimum of 25 hours of community service projects pertaining to the Great Western Trail, Present project proposal to GWCTA for approval prior to starting the project, and Present written and oral report upon completion of the project.
Type of projects include, Research: Oral Histories, Photography, Research of the Great Western Trail, and Research of the people of the Great Western Trail Drives. Education: Present educational/interpretative program on the Western Trail, Design a display about Western Trail to identify and explain. This might be for their Chamber of Commerce or other agency that promotes tourism, and Have a booth at a local fair or festival about the Western Trail and events along the Trail. Landscaping: Weeding around Western Trail Markers, Repainting Western Trail Markers, and Planting and landscaping around Western Trail Markers.
