Belia “Betty” Piedra Alcorta, 83, of Altus, passed away after a lengthy illness Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

Betty was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Charlotte, Texas, to Jesus and Fidelia (Valderas) Piedra. She married Jose M. Alcorta on Aug. 20, 1945, in Charlotte, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two sisters, and one brother.

Betty is survived by her husband, Jose Maria Alcorta of the home in Altus; nine sons, Joe Alcorta and wife from Altus, Ray Alcorta and wife from Arlington, Texas, Freddy Alcorta and wife from Altus, Pete Alcorta and wife from Arlington, Texas, Robert Alcorta and wife from Ft. Worth, Texas, Ricky Alcorta and wife from Altus, Danny Alcorta and wife from Altus, Paul Alcorta and wife from North Dakota, Johnny Alcorta and wife from Elk City; her only daughter, Margarita Rodriguez and husband from Altus, and Lisa Alcorta and family of Altus. She is also survived by a sister and a brother from Texas, 28 grandchildren, an abundance of great-grandchildren, and a few great-great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family.

A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, at Lowell-Tims Chapel in Altus.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus with the Rev. Joseph Sundar Pudota officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
