Every year in this country, more than 500,000 children are removed from their families, and placed in foster care. They have committed no crime, but are simply child victims and have been abused, neglected or abandoned. The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) wants to make a difference. According to Sonya McAuliffe, the District 3 CASA Executive Director, “This non-profit organization trains volunteers to speak for the best interests of these children in court and to help find them a safe, permanent home.” Every volunteer undergoes a criminal background check, a personal interview, and participates in 30 hours of training to become a child advocate. Please contact Sonya McAuliffe for more information at 580-482-4600 or email 3jdcasa@sbcglobal.net.
