The City of Altus Blackboard System was called to action mid-day yesterday to ask citizens to refrain from using water in their yards. Replacement of a water main valve made water conservation necessary. Fortunately, many Altus residents didn’t have to water outdoors yesterday, due to recent showers.

According to Lloyd Colston, Emergency Management Director, today, citizens in the area of Chris and Lila (508 to 808 Lila and 509 to 809 Chris) are experiencing a water outage. “It should be done by the time people get home,” Colston said. The repair time is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Colston stated, “The repairs yesterday went well. Conservation is still encouraged but it’s also voluntary.”

Regarding the weather, Colston added, “While we got over an inch of rain, I suspect it will not be enough to get us out of the Drought.”
