According to Captain Pete Norwood, Legislative Liaison with the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, two people have been hired to be Drivers License Examiners for the Altus office. These two examiners are being trained now in the Lawton office and will also attend a five-week course which starts in late August. Capt. Norwood anticipates the examiners will be in Altus this fall.
Rep. Charles Ortega said of the good news, “Senator Schulz and I have been aware of the hardship the closed office has imposed on our constituents. We continue to work toward the reopening of the local office and thank the Commissioner of the DPS for his efforts and action to bring this about.”
