The City of Altus has posted notice of a Special Meeting to be held this Saturday, July 21, at 9 a.m.

This meeting will be an Appeal Hearing regarding Dan Scott, the City Electrical Superintendent. Scott has been on administrative leave with pay for several months while an investigation was conducted by, or at the request of, Mayor David Webb. That investigation has been concluded and it states four times in the agenda that Webb is recommending Scott’s termination.

According to the agenda, an approved legal advisor, John Vincent will preside over the hearing.

In an executive session there will be “confidential communications” with a special legal advisor to the City Council on Scott’s possible termination.

According to state statutes, it is up to Dan Scott whether he wishes the Appeal Hearing to be in open session or to be held in executive session. If the evidence is presented in open session, the Council will then enter another executive session for a “deliberation to consider evidence presented…”

Then in open session, the Council will vote “on the appeal of Dan Scott from the recommendation of Mayor David Webb that his employment be terminated, including consideration and possible action on any matters discusses in executive session.”

Following the vote, the meeting will adjourn.
