Mangum man injured in motorcycle accident north of Blair

James Waddell, 49, of Mangum, was transported by Jackson County EMS to Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus after a motorcycle accident 1/2 mile north of Blair yesterday.

According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Waddell was south bound on US Hwy 283 when he lost control of the vehicle while reaching into the saddlebags on the motorcycle. He left the road to the right, went into a broad slide and rolled. He was thrown approximately 21 feet..

He was later taken by Air Evac to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in stable condition with head, arm, trunk internal and leg injuries.

There were no other vehicles involved, and there were no passengers.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Trinity Simmons of the Jackson County detachment of Troop M, and was assisted by Trooper Josh Tinsley, Jackson County EMS, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, and the Blair First Responders.
