A special Appeals Hearing meeting regarding Dan Scott, the City Electrical Superintendent, was held Saturday morning. Scott has been on administrative leave with pay for several months while an investigation was conducted by, or at the request of, Mayor David Webb.
Scott and his legal team chose to have his appeal hearing in executive session. The public, media and most City employees in attendance were excluded from Council Chambers during the hearing itself. It was noted that if the evidence was presented in open session, the Council would still have had to enter another executive session for a “deliberation to consider evidence presented…”
John Vincent, the approved legal adviser, and Vice-Mayor Rick Henry, presided over deliberations. Mayor Webb recused himself from the proceedings.
In a 7-1 vote, Scott was reinstated. “I appreciate the time the City Council spent on this effort. I’m looking forward to going back to work,” Scott said after the meeting.
See the Tuesday, July 24 edition of the Altus Times for more details on this meeting.
