Katrena Ann Drury, 48, went to be with the Lord on August 2, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Katrena was a loving mother, adored wife, and devoted friend.

A celebration of Katrena’s life will be held on Monday, August 6 at 10 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 2815 Sand Road in Vernon, Texas. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Arant. Interment will be at Boggy cemetery in Elmer, OK. Interment will be under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.

Katrena was born to Frances Eversole Driggers and the late Ronnie J. Driggers on July 7, 1964, in Duncan, OK. She graduated from Comanche High School in 1981. She married Kent Drury on Nov. 19, 1982. Katrena and Kent settled in Vernon, where they raised their two boys, Kyle and Koby. She worked many years at North Texas State Hospital in medical records and retired in 2009.

Katrena was an amazing wife and mother; she had a deep love for her family and faithfully served them. Many weekends were spent going on adventures with family and friends, making memories that will last them a lifetime. Katrena’s great pleasures were spending time at the lake with her toes in the sand and holidays with family and friends. She enjoyed shopping and had impeccable taste. She loved to entertain friends and family as the gracious host she was. She had a passion for fun games; she particularly loved to play Sequence and Wahoo. Katrena touched many people’s lives with her kind soul, loving heart, and generous nature. Throughout her journey, she maintained a positive attitude with a sparkle in her eye, a fire in her heart, and a smile on her face.

Katrena is survived by her husband, Kent, of the home, two sons, Kyle Jay Drury and Koby Edwin Drury, both of Vernon, her mother, Frances Schnee and husband, Ron, of Lawton, sister, Melanie Ferrell and husband, Colt, of Corum, Okla, brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Kristie Drury, of Moore, nephews, Dylan, Jessie and Spencer, and niece, Kelly Cassie.

Katrena was preceded in death by her father, Ronnie J. Driggers. Visitation will be Sunday, August 5 at 6 to 8 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the family at “www.sullivanfuneralhomevernon.com”.
