Arnold was born December 27, 1942, in Indiahoma, Oklahoma, to Lewis and Mildred (Owen) Preast. He graduated from Indiahoma High School in 1960. He married his sweetheart, Mary Jo “Susie” Phelps on May 5, 1969, in Vernon, Texas.
Arnold had an extensive career as a long-haul truck driver. His many adventures included owning his own truck to working for various companies in the southwest, (Republic Gypsum, Jewett Scott, and Maverick, to name a few.) He traveled throughout most of the United States. He loved classic country music, western movies, and taking care of his loved ones.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Lewis Preast, and a brother, Davie Preast.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Susie, of Altus; two daughters, Leslie Smith and husband Charles of Altus, Angela Gutierrez and husband Clemente, of Luther, Oklahoma; one son, Brian Preast of Altus; five grandchildren, Ashley, Charles, Elijah, David, and Mary Jo; four brothers, W.A. Preast and wife Ellen of Lawton, Oklahoma, Charles “Charlie” Preast of New Mexico, Donald Preast of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Roger Preast of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Rosetta Swan and husband Orville, of Bakersfield, California, Roberta “Robbie” Hargrove of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, and Gwen Jenkins of Walters, Oklahoma.
Arnold was an amazing husband, father, brother, and friend to all. He will be greatly missed and continue to be loved by those left behind.
Memorial Services for Arnold Preast will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012, at the Altus Centennial Memorial Center in the Altus City Cemetery. Inurnment will be held privately with family following the services under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
