Jackson County Commissioners announced Monday that an extreme fire danger persists in the county and has extended the burn ban.

It is unlawful at this time to set fire to any forest, grass, range, crop or other wildlands, or to build a campfire or bonfire or to burn trash or other material that may cauyse a forest, grass, range, crop or other wildland fire.

Any person convicted of violating this resolution shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fire of up to $500 and/or imprisonment up to one year.

Sue Hokanson of Quartz Mountain State Park also added that until the burn ban is lifted, no campfires or charcoal grilling are allowed. However, propane or Coleman-type stoves are allowed. If using a stove, still be very careful not to ignite any fires with flaming marshmallows.
