She married Leo Dean Stanley on April 21, 1934. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1973. In 1974, she married Forrest Witkovski, who preceded her in death in 1989.
Iris and her parents moved to Beatrice, Neb., in 1929 and resided there most of her life. She moved to Altus in 1995 to be near her daughter, and resided there until her death.
Iris was a wonderful mother, grandmother, homemaker, and a good friend to all who knew her. She always had a beautiful smile for everyone. She liked helping people whenever she could. Iris and her first husband worked in the Kaiser Shipyards during World War II. She was a “Rosie the Riveter”. After moving back to Nebraska, she worked in the retail business for many years until her retirement. After her retirement and moving to Altus, she worked as a volunteer for Jackson County Memorial Hospital for 11 years in the gift shop. She was a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus. She was also a member of the RSVP, and for a while, the Senior Citizens Group at the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, LaDean and Bill Dickson of Altus, and Sharron and Maurice Baldwin of Sacramento, Calif.; two step-daughters, Jean Lindardt and husband Ed of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Judy Franklin and husband John of Des Moines, Iowa; and one step-son, Dick Witkovski and wife Sioux of Dallas, Texas. She also is survived by one sister, Velda Sandusky of Hugoton, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Jim Akins and wife Jan, Keith Baldwin and wife Kathleen, Jerry Dart, Robby Dart, Christy Woods and husband Earl, Renee Hoback and husband Buddy, James and Jerry R. Dickson; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 15 step great-grandchildren; and 4 step great-great-grandsons. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, three brothers, three sisters, and two grandsons.
A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on Friday at 1:30 p.m., with Tal Oden officiating. Burial will be at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beatrice, Neb. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to JCMH Hospice and Home Health Care. The family has entrusted the care of their beloved to Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
