Mayor addresses Open Meeting Act complaint issue

The Altus Times received calls this morning after an article appeared in the Lawton Constitution today regarding an anonymous complaint lodged against the City Council and officers for violations of the Open Meeting Act.

There were concerns that more has developed in the story related to the Aug. 7 second executive session that was taken to inform the City Council of confidential information. The original complainant referenced the State Statutes and stated that the council and city clerk should has provided more information to the public regarding the subject of the executive session.

Mayor David Webb today reiterated his position that there were no violations of the Open Meeting Act. In speaking with the Lawton Constitution and the Altus Times, Webb recounted that no action was taken on this information from the executive session.
