ALTUS - Local emergency management officials want residents of the Altus area to have an opportunity to learn tips and hear speakers talking about emergency preparedness at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Southwest Technology Center, 711 W Tamarack in Altus.
“Preparedness is a lifestyle,” said Lloyd Colston, Altus Emergency Manager. “That lifestyle can start at 6 p.m. Thursday.”
Those attending can hear from speakers talk about local issues, such as generator safety, personal disaster supplies, Neighborhood Watch, and severe weather.
Those attending can update their information or register for Blackboard Connect, the City Alerting System.
“We are also working on a plan to program weather radios at the gathering,” said Colston.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
For more information about emergency management, Colston recommends calling your local emergency management official or visiting altusem.us at http://altusem.blogspot.com/
