Wednesday started off with scattered showers in the area, but measurable percipitation didn’t hit Altus until around 10 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Altus until 10:30 p.m., but a short burst of wind was only followed by a a series of light rain.

According to Altus Air Force Base Weather, we only received .13 inches.

Although the Altus area didn’t see much, strong winds blew over trees in parts of Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service says a 78-mph wind gust was reported near Ardmore, where trees were uprooted and knocked onto U.S. Highway 70 in southern Oklahoma. Gusts of 71 mph and 68 mph also were recorded near Hobart. Earlier in the day, authorities say a mobile home was blown off its foundation and outbuildings were damaged in storms that moved through Gage.
