It was another long night for the Altus High Bulldogs who dropped a 41-6 decision here on Friday night in a game that ended in the third quarter because of lightning.

Ike won the coin flip and Eagles Head Coach Boone Copeland elected to defend the north goal because of a strong northerly wind. That gave Ike good field position the entire first quarter. Actually Eisenhower had a huge advantage in field position the entire game. Their average drive started at the Bulldogs 45 yard line.

Eisenhower scored on six of its eight possessions in the game. Junior running back Jarvis Jackson was thorn in the side Altus defense. The 5-5, 150 pounder rushed 11 times for 114 yards and scored four touchdowns. His touchdowns came on runs of 57, 11, five and two yards.

Ike also scored on 21 yard pass from quarterback Bently Bross to Ricky Alexander and a Mealique Antoine one yard run.

The Bulldogs avoided a shutout on a big play on the first snap of the second quarter. Senior quarterback Brantley Ford handed off to running back Diquon Woodhouse who in turn through a pass deep down field to a wide open Wavin Yada. Yada out ran the last Ike defender to complete a 70 yard touchdown pass.

That gave Altus a spark and they trailed 14-6 at that time.

Actually that was supposed to have been run on the first play of the game. However, the strong wind was in the faces of the Bulldogs and AHS mentor Chad Stone elected not to run it at that time.

The Bulldogs had problems sustaining anything offensively. They were zero for six on third down conversion attempts and rushed 20 times for 35 yards.

The game was called off with 6:54 remaining in the third quarter.

Altus, 0-2 on the season, will now turn their attention to Thursday night’s game with the Lawton High Wolverines. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. at Cameron University Stadium.
