Michael Joseph Murphy, 64, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Norman Specialty Hospital. He was born June 15, 1948, in Lancaster Ohio.
After graduation from high school, Michael joined the Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He went on to serve in the Persian Gulf War as a member of the Air Force and spent the final 15 years of his career working as a Civil Servant at Altus Air Force Base.
Michael is survived by his four children, Michael V. Murphy and Kathleen Murphy, both in Ohio, Timothy O. Murphy in Virginia Beach, Va., and Mikele Murphy in Washington; as well as four grandchildren, four brothers and a sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Elizabeth Murphy.
He will be laid to rest in St Marys Cemetery in Lancaster, Ohio next to his parents. Funeral arrangements are being made by Sheridan Funeral Home of Lancaster, OH 222 South Columbus Street, 43130 (740) 653-4633.
There will also be a small get together for family and friends, to remember Michael at the Friendship Inn in Altus at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26.
