Southwest Technology Center (SWTC) held the “2012 Annual SWTC Chili Cook-Off” Tuesday, Sept. 25 in the Frances Herron Seminar Center where Cindy Thomas barely took the votes for the win. This is the third year in a row for Thomas to win the In-house Chili Cook-off. Thomas is a SWTC business office administrative assistant and will be one representative for SWTC in the “Cookin’ With Main Street” Altus event this Saturday. For the last two years Thomas’ chili, “Sweet& Sassy” won the civic/non-profit category at the “Cookin with Main Street” event.
Coming in a close second was Practical Nursing Instructor, Diane Fairchild. Fairchild’s chili, “Dangerously Delicious,” only lagged the win by two votes. Fairchild is no stranger to the Cotton Pickin, city-wide event. She represented Jackson County Memorial Hospital (JCMH) a few years back when she won the JCMH in-house chili cook-off.
The two ladies will have their chili’s entered in the down town event this Saturday. Everyone is invited to stop by the SWTC, “A School Divided,” booth to taste these award winning chilies.
The SWTC chili cook-off was held in preparation for this year’s “Cotton Pickin Chili Cook-Off~2012.” The money raised from the “2012 Annual SWTC Chili Cook-Off” went to Thomas and Fairchild to cover the cost of ingredients to enter the “Cotton Pickin Chili Cook-Off” Altus event with their award winning chilies.
