The friends and fans of Ben Bailey are invited to attend a concert honoring Ben scheduled for 7 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 27 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, home of one of the finest pipe organs in the state. The concert titled “Celebrating Ben Bailey” will feature instrumental and choral numbers specifically chosen to illustrate all the facets of Ben’s musical career, including patriotic, religious, jazz, piano, and organ music. The concert will be performed by Ben’s musical friends from far and near, including a choir of over 35 men and women. Some of those choir members reviewed the musical selections following a recent MacDowell Club meeting.
Front Row: Betty Marcha, Opal Norris, Susan Grimes, and Mary Kruska. Back Row: Edie Lazenby, Russell Weber, Jennie Buchanan, Catherine Coke, and Kathy Bayers. “Ben has generously shared his love of music and his talent for performing music with our community for over three decades,” commented co-program director Nancy Cox. “This concert is our opportunity to honor Ben and show our appreciation for all he’s given to our community.” The concert is free, and the public is invited to share in the celebration. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is located at 721 N. Thomas in Altus.
