A 15-year-old Mangum girl, was was driving south in a 1998 Kia on CR 158 west of Martha Friday when she left the roadway for an unknown reason. After leaving the road, she hit a pole and came to rest.
She was taken by Jackson County EMS to Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, but was later air evaced to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal injuries.
A passenger in the vehicle, Philessia Jean Cathey, 21, of Mangum, was also air evaced to OU Medical Center where she was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal injuries.
Seatbelts were equipped, but no in use. Airbags were also equipped, but did not deploy. Both driver and passenger were pinned.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Kevin Miller of the Harmon Detachment of Troop M, and was assisted by Troopers James Wallace, Steve Pothorst and Anthony Linares, Jackson County EMS, Air Evac, Altus Fire & Rescue, the Martha Fire Department, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
