Ronald R. Moore, 81, of Altus, died in the home of his daughter, Misti Price, in Collinsville, Texas on Oct. 19, 2012. Ron was born in Monteith, Iowa, on Aug. 7, 1931, to Roy Lee and Gladie (Marlenee) Moore. After graduating from Yale High School in Ames, Iowa, he proudly served his country for 24 years: two years in the Marine Corp and 22 years in the United States Air Force. During this time, he served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict.
Ron married the love of his life, Karen Hope Thorton on Jan. 11, 1974, becoming the proud parent of Jackie, Brent and Misti. Ron and Karen owned and operated three successful businesses in the Altus area: The Club 5, The Mesquite Tree Restaurant and The Office.
Ron was preceded in death by both parents; twin brothers; a sister and his wife, Karen.
He leaves behind three children, Jackie deBrito and husband Wil of Midwest City, Brent Moore and wife Linda of Amarillo, Texas, and Misti Price and husband Davidof Collinsville, Texas; six grandchildren, Heath Moore and wife Jamie of Amarillo, Kenneth Moore of Amarillo, Jessica Henson and Jacob Henson of Midwest City, Emily Price and Marshal Price of Collinsville; and one great-grandchild, Rayne Henson.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at Navajo Cemetery in Headrick at 11 a.m. with a memorial following the service at 12:30 p.m. at the V.F.W., 500 N. Veterans Drive in Altus. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas.
