Walkin’ on Chalk banners have been painted and Main Street Altus director, Amy Jo Cobb and event co-chair’s Margaret Worrell and Leslie Briscoe are delivering the painted banners to Anita Johnson of Johnsons Vacuum Shop & Sewing Basket. Each year Johnson hems the banners that are hung on the light posts around the square. The banners are painted by Altus High School art students in preparation for Walkin’ on Chalk to be held beginning at 9 am on Saturday, March 28. The Walkin’ on Chalk event is held each year in March showcasing the artists in our area. This event has something for everyone, coloring and drawing contest for 1st and 2nd graders; a sidewalk chalk drawing contest for 1st – 12th grade students and a category for college students and adults and a banner contest for high school students. For more information on “Walkin’ on Chalk” call Amy at Main Street Altus at 482-2277.Sponsors for the event are NBC; Aviation Training Consulting, LLC; Altus Times, Southern Prairie Library, Shortgrass Arts & Humanities Council, KWHW, KEY-B and City of Altus.
