During the Altus Municipal Authority (AMA) meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 20, Drake Rice and Dave Osburn of OMPA will give results of the 2013 Rate Services Study. James Wilson, City Finance Director will give the monthly financial report.

In addition to the Consent Agenda, the trustees will consider items for the Electric Department. They will review, discuss and vote to allow staff to enter into negotiations with Planter’s Coop to discuss cost sharing on line extension of new grain elevators and discuss voting to authorize staff and Bond Counsel to prepare a financing package to submit to The Oklahoma Water Resources Board for the Southeast Wastewater maintenance and construction project.

The City Council meeting will immediately follow.

There will be a presentation by Illando Sawyer, Board Member and Family Support Committee Member of the family awarded the home being built by Habitat For Humanities at 1129 North Willard. Upon completion of the house, the family who will occupy the residence is Pedrick Shivers and Kathryn Miller and their five children.

The Consent Agenda, hiring freeze procedures, and a staffing agreement with Express Employment Professionals will be considered. They will also consider deleting the position of Business Development Director, transfer that funding to the EDC.

The Council will receive a briefing on water sources, allocations, use and potential conservation, rationing and methods to implement either or both. They may vote to authorize or direct further action.

In the last item of the evening, if there is no new business, Council will also consider the possibility of a resolution to have an election to change the Altus City government from Aldermanic to one with a charter. If the voters wished this change, Mayor Webb said, regarding a possible transition between Aldermanic and a Charter form, “The first primary and general elections under the new form shall be held at the time that the next municipal primary and general elections would be held as if there were no change in the form of government. The form of government which has been adopted shall go into full effect when the terms of officers elected under the new form begin. Every appointive officer or employee holding an office or position which exists under both the previous and new forms of government shall continue in his office or position in the new form of government until his services terminate or are terminated in the manner provided by the new form.”
