Joyce Ward, 71, of Olustee, passed away Nov. 8, 2012, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Olustee Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Joyce was born Jan. 13, 1941, to George W. and Ruby Jewell (Manus) Gifford in Grandfield. She graduated from Grandfield High School. On Oct. 17, 1955, Joyce married Billie E. Ward in Grandfield. Billie passed away Dec. 3, 1987. She was a medication nurse for 20 years and then worked in the Olustee School Kitchen for 10 years. She was a member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Olustee Community Action. One of her favorite pastimes included stamp collecting.

Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Billy E. Ward Jr.; two daughters, Deborah Sue Ward and Linda Ford; one granddaughter, Heather Rena Ford; one sister, Pauline Strain; and a brother, Eugene Gifford.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Melissa Von Wert of Schenectady, N.Y.; two sisters, Jody Quinday of Fresno, Calif., and Pam Gibson of Walnut Grove, Calif.; five brothers, Ronnie Gifford of Cold Springs, Nev., Jerry Gifford and wife Carol of Cold Springs, Phillip Gifford and wife Lou Anne of Princeton, Wisc., Gordon Gifford of Altus,and Tommy Gifford of Altus; five great-grandchildren, Jason Von Wert, Hailey Von Wert, Joe Lei Von Wert, Joey Von Wert, and Titus John Von Wert; a cousin, Bonnie Stengard of Altus; and several nieces and nephews.
