Ronald Rea Whittington, 66, of Blair, passed away Nov. 26, 2012, in Altus. A memorial service will be at a later date.

Ronald was born to Victor and Lois (Dobbs) Whittington in Grandfield on Feb. 13, 1946. He grew up on the Red River in Grandfield and attended school in Grandfield and Altus. He was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard from 1964 1970. He worked for Acme Fence Company and for many farmers in the area, mostly Bob Kerr as one of the best seven strain barbwire fence builders. While working he helped the family out by taking care of his younger sisters by cooking breakfast for them every morning and taking them to school before going to work daily.

He was a strong honest man who was proud of his work. He had the strongest grip when you shook his hand. He was pretty much a loner but always had a dog for a companion and loved his family very much. He enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include four brothers, Donald Whittington and wife Marlene of Chehalis, Wash., Arlis Whittington of Blair, Jerry Whittington of Blair, and Kirby Myers of Memphis, Texas; four sisters, Jeanie and husband Pete Steinmetz of Havre, Mont., Janice Oak of Blair, Vicky and husband Larry Shaw of Blair, and Sharon and husband Don Lavoie of Great Falls, Mont.; and a host of nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
