Council to consider hiring attorney to assist with drafting of a City Charter

The regular meeting of the Altus Municipal Authority will meet in regular session council chambers beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Items on the consent agenda include approval of minutes from the last meeting, and purchase orders for the Enterprise Fund. They will also receive, consider and vote to acknowledge a briefing regarding active and proposed infrastructure projects, to provide additional guidance and approval on funding project, and specific additions/deletions from the list.

The regular meeting of the City Council will begin immediately following the AMA meeting. Consent agenda items include approval of minutes from the last meeting, purchase orders for the general fund, Workers Comp fund, airport fund, and an estimated payroll.

Council will also acknowledge monthly reports and minutes, and consider discuss and vote to authorize and approve an agreement for professional services, as a consultant to the City Attorney and City Council, of retired, municipal attorney, John H. Vincent to assist with drafting of a City Charter and the possible changes to a charter form of government. Vincent would be hired at a rate of $75 per hour, plus expenses through June 30.

Council will also review and discuss the City of Altus wards and ward boundaries, vote to approve a resolution notifying the Secretary of the County Election Board of a nonpartisan general municipal election for the purpose of electing officers of the City of Altus.

The meeting will end with mayor’s appointments, and comments and reports from the City Administrator, council members and mayor.
