Blair, Tipton, Duke hit Cottonbelt finals

The Tipton boys and girls, the Duke girls, and Blair boys made their way in top the Cottonbelt Tournament finals, via semifinal victories Friday night at the Western Oklahoma State College gym. The finals were played Saturday night.

Tipton 71, Olustee 51

Boys semifinals

For the first 16 minutes the game matched the pre tournament expectations. But then came the second half and the Tipton Tigers turned it up a notch to get the victory.

Trailing by one point, the Tigers scored ten of the first 12 points to open up an eight point lead and they kept adding to that margin.

Josh Torres was unstoppable. The senior poured in 34 points to lead all scorers. Tanner Knight finished with 18 points while Josh Danna had 15 points.

Dylan Sanchez and Taylor Avila paved the way for Olustee with 15 points while Christian Fixico had 11 points.

Duke 38, Blair 25

Girls semifinals

Duke outscored Blair 22-4 in the middle periods to break the game open.

Marilyn McAllister led Duke with nine points.

Chelsea Martin of Blair won game scoring honors with 18 points.

Blair 37, Erick 26.

Boys semifinals

Neither team got much going offensively. Turnovers and missed shots were the name of this game.

Blair got a 10 point performance from Brady Spears.

Quinton Mills led Erick with eight points.

Tipton 58, Erick JV 38

Girls semifinals

The Lady Tigers blew this game open in the second period when they outscored Erick 22-4 to take a 35-11 halftime lead.

Sophomore Chelsea Heidebrecht paced Tipton with 22 points.

Savannah Osmond led the Lady Bearcats with 13 points.
