The Navajo boys’ basketball team won their District Tournament this last Saturday night at Snyder.
Navajo beat Ninnekah on Friday night 63-45; then on Saturday night Navajo defeated Snyder 47-42 to win the District title. In the win vs. Ninnekah, freshman Nathan Cross led the scoring with 18points, junior Josh Bates added 9 points and12 rebounds, and senior Cassidy Mesa chipped in 10 points. In the finals vs. Snyder, “it was one of the most exciting games that I have every coached in” said Coach Weston W. Winters.
Senior Cassidy Mesa led Navajo in scoring with 13 points, sophomore Kaleb Hubert added 10 points and also took 3 charges in the game, and Josh Bates had a big night with 9 points and added 17 rebounds.
Navajo will play in regionals Thursday at Minco 8pm vs. Fairview.
The Navajo Lady Indians suffered a 40-32 setback to Snyder in the district finals at Snyder. They advance to the Class 2A regional where the girls will play Minco at 6:30 p.m. at Minco.
