MAYSVILLE - The Prestonsburg High School track and field program made its 2013 debut over the weekend, competing in an indoor track and field meet at the U.S. Bank/Mason County Indoor Athletic Complex on Saturday. Prestonsburg fared well in the season-opening meet.

“We ran well for the first meet of the year,” Prestonsburg Coach Dewey Jamerson said.

Several Prestonsburg track and field athletes fared well in the meet.

In his very first race, Dustin Blair turned in a school record for the indoor 1600 meters.

Another runner, Austin Bertrand, recorded a personal record in the 1600 meter run.

Miles Goodman posted a personal record in the shot put event.

The Prestonsburg girls’ team finished 22nd with Catherine Tincher placing sixth in the 55 meter dash and seventh in the 55 meter hurdles.

Mason County will host one more indoor meet before the Mason-Dixon Games on March 2 in Broadbent Arena in Louisville. The upcoming Mason County-hosted meet will begin at noon Saturday in the U.S. Bank/Mason County Indoor Athletic Complex.

Prestonsburg will be competing on each of the next two Saturdays.

“We go back to Mason County this Saturday and to the Mason Dixon Games the following Saturday,” Jamerson confirmed.
