Don Waller liked the idea of the “Wear Red” days, but didn’t care for the high cost associated with the various T-shirts and other products. He came up with a pin design of his own and has been making and distributing them for free to local senior citizens to wear on Fridays at the Senior Meal Site.

Waller (in the overalls), seen here with other folks this past Friday at the Senior Meal Site, has been making these pins comprised of six red ribbons and an eagle insignia. Waller said that each ribbon represents a different branch of the military (Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, National Guard and Coast Guards). The eagle was used because of it’s national symbol of our county, and the red represents both the blood shed by Jesus, and for the blood shed by our military defending our country.

Waller said that the he plans on turning the project over to the DAV, who in turn will make the pins and give them away for donations.
