Kathy A. Scalf, 61, of Altus, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Bill Estep officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Kathy Ann was born June 5, 1951 to Lewis and Helen (Adams) Young in Altus. She attended Southside High School, where she was an outstanding basketball player and very active in all school events. She graduated in 1969 and attended beauty college, becoming a beautician for a few years. She married Lynn Scalf April 17, 1971 in Weatherford. They had two sons, Shawn and Kevin. Kathy was a devoted mother and followed both her boys throughout the years in all of their sporting events. Kathy was a secretary at Southeast Jr. High School for 10 years. She loved her family dearly. She was a Hero to her family, because of her courage and positive attitude that she maintained throughout the years.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Young.

She is survived by her husband, Lynn, of the home; mother, Helen Young of Altus; two sons, Shawn Scalf and wife Molly of Mustang, and Kevin Scalf and wife Kelly of Owasso; two sisters, Brenda Johnson and husband Mike of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kim Richardson of Altus; two brothers, Eddie Young and wife Brenda of Sherman, Texas, and Randy Young and wife Susie of Altus; two grandchildren, Bailey Scalf and Colby Scalf of Owasso; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

The family will host a visitation for family and friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 31 at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jackson County Memorial Hospital Hospice, 1208 E. Tamarack Road, Altus, OK 73521 in honor of Kathy.
