According to Altus Police Chief Mike Patterson, Maya and two 13-year-old girls were “talking dirty” on the telephone before they met.
“They left the house after midnight and met up with Maya, then walked to another nearby house,” Patterson said. “At that point, one of the girls stayed in the front part of the house, and Maya took the other girl to a back room.”
Patterson said that Maya told authorities that the sex was consentual, and that she had told him that she was 17 years old.
“It doesn’t matter if it was consentual or not,” Patterson, “She is still 13 years old, therefore he was arrested for rape.”
The case has been turned over to the District Attorney’s office where official charges will be filed.
