Matthew Jay Wilson, 53, of Altus, passed away early Monday morning, May 13, 2013, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Matt was born in Altus on Aug. 19, 1959 to Weldon Windy Grant and Margaret (Hoagland) Wilson. He attended Wilson Elementary and Northeast Junior High before graduating from Altus High School in 1978. A hard worker all of his life, Matt immediately went to work with his family at Allied Van Company, later he spent time working in the oil fields before returning to Allied. For a while, Matt farmed with Wylie Felty and lastly, driving a bus for Altus Schools, and serving as a school custodian at Altus Middle School and Rivers Elementary. In 2005, Matts health began to fail and he was forced to leave the job where he was loved, working with children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jerry Adelman.
He is survived by one son, Nick Morris and wife Cassandra of Tipton; three sisters, Debbie Pomisino and husband Darrell of Taft, Calif., Betty Wilson and husband U.S. Wilson of Taft, and Donna Brown of Marine City, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Pat Adelman of St. Louis, Mo.; along with many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Erin Martinez officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
