The Breakfast will be held at the Activities Center of the First United Methodist Church of Altus, doors opening at 6 a.m., serving begins at 6:15 a.m. Local businesses, commercial enterprises, churches, governmental agencies and schools have received invitations to attend. Featured speaker will be David Green, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hobby Lobby.
Green, a native Southwest Oklahoman, believes that his success in the retail business is due, in large part to his deep Christian faith and the power of prayer. He states, “We believe it is by God’s grace and provision that Hobby Lobby has endured. He has been faithful in the past, we trust Him for our future”. The roots of David’s humble beginnings in the retail business can be found here in Altus and the members of the Altus Chamber and the Ministerial Alliance are excited about his return to our community for this event.
Those community businesses, commercial, and institutional partners who would like to be a part of what is hoped to become an annual event are encouraged to become a “Sponsor” by purchasing a table of eight for $100. Individual tickets are also on sale for $10 from the Altus Chamber at 301 West Commerce Street.
John Johnson, local Pastor and Vice President of Organizational Development for the Altus Chamber said, “It is our sincere hope that this Prayer Breakfast will bring together community leaders, spiritual leaders and business and commercial leaders in Altus. Perhaps we can learn together what might just happen when we stop to pray as one group for our community and its needs. The power of prayer can never be underestimated.”
Jim Brown, President of the Jackson County Ministerial Alliance has issued a challenge to all area ministers, “Plan to begin your observance of the National Day of Prayer by attending this breakfast and by bringing your church leadership and any business leadership you influence with you.”
