Maj. Gen. (Select) Richard T. Devereaux, Director of Intelligence, Operations and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas is slated to be the guest speaker at the annual First Sergeant’s dinner hosted by the Altus Military Affairs Committee.
The dinner will be held June 4 in the home of Dr. Joe and Kim Leverett. Joe Leverett is the chairman of the Altus Military Affairs Committee.
General Devereaux is responsible for developing policies and programming resources for Air Force technical and aircrew training programs. This includes undergraduate flying and initial skills training for Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Reserve and Guard personnel; Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training; enlisted accessions; initial training and non-rated supplemental training. Along with formulating training policy, he maintains the ability to respond to peacetime contingencies and expeditionary requirements, and to execute AETC command and control in peace and war.

The general entered the Air Force in 1978 as an honor graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has served as a T-37 instructor pilot and managed initial development of the flight control and avionics systems for the C-17. He has held staff assignments within both the Operations and Logistics Directorates of the Joint Staff, and has worked on the Secretary of the Air Force's International Affairs staff. His commands include a C-5 airlift squadron; an air mobility operations group; the 100th Air Refueling Wing at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England; and the 82nd Training Wing at Sheppard AFB, Texas.
“The First Sergeant’s dinner has become a tradition in Altus and we are fortunate to have General Devereaux available to be our guest speaker. I know that many of those attending from the base as well as those MAC members attending are looking forward to the dinner, meeting the first sergeant’s from the base and listening to the general speak,” said Leverett.
