Durinig Monday’s meeting of the Jackson County Memorial Hospital, Board of Trustees, the board reviewed and approved the annual operating budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year in the amount of $72,069,624. The board also reviewed and approved the capital budget in the amount of $2,704,370.

Also during the meeting, Michelle Ford reported a total of 170 admissions and 43 outpatient surgeries that were contributed to JCMH from the outreach clinics for the month of May.

William Wilson reported on physician recruitment activity. Dr. Sherry Roles, Internal Medicine physician, continues to show interest in joining JCMH. Continuing conversations with two OB/GYNs, two Emergency Medicine physicians and two Pathologists. Lisa Riggs, Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will join the Counseling Center in July.

Fixed Assets from Funded Depreciation and Designated Funds to Funded Depreciation were approved in the amount of $65,425.65.

The board approved the annual review of the JCMH Mission, Vision and Value Statements with one slight revision as proposed by Jim King.

King reviewed the highlights from the Performance Improvement Council meeting that was held on June 1.

The board approved the Standards of Behavior Policy and the Medical Staff Code of Conduct as presented by King, Tom Graham and Dr. Richard Katseres. These policies are intended to ensure an environment for effective communication, behavior and teamwork that fosters a culture of safety for staff, physicians, patients and families.

The board approved a resolution authorizing Wilson, President/CEO, King, COO and Nancy Davidson, CFO, to sign on accounts with UBS.

Dr. Katseres, Chief of Staff, reported from the JCMH Medical Staff Executive Committee meeting that was held on June 9. The Board approved the following recommendations:

1. Reappointment:

i. Bryan Treacy, MD – OB/GYN, Courtesy Staff

ii. Barry Chapman, APRN, Affiliate Staff

2. Request for Additional Privileges:

i. Barry Chapman, APRN – Stress Test

Financials for the month of May ended with a net loss of $420,770 and a year to date net income of $1,415,052.

Wilson reported on the Cancer Centers operations. There are currently about 132 active patients being seen at the Altus facility. The CCSWO board is considering bridge financing to finance the three facilities. They are currently considering two options and will make a decision soon.
